Foot Bath Ritual

Our feet are the foundations of our body. They are the connection we have with mother earth and they take us everywhere. Hence they deserve to be looked after, honoured and pampered.

I am sharing a lovely and simple foot bath ritual, using some common herbs and other ingredients easily available from your cupboard.

The ingredients you will need are: juice of 1 or 2 lemons (depending on size), a bunch of mint, some rosemary, two table spoons of pink himalayan salt and some lukewarm or cold water. You may want to choose the temperature of the water depending on the season, nice and warm for winter, to relax, or a little cool during a hot summer day, to revitalise the energy and refresh yourself . You can also add jasmine flowers or any other wild flower you have available.

The preparation process is quick and simple: add the himalayan sea salt in a foot bath container, mix it with the rosemary and mint and finally pour water on these. Add the juice of the lemon and top with jasmine or wild flowers, or both. Flowers are a nice ornamental addition to your foot bath, and they will also enlighten your spirits with all the colour and the fragrances they emanate.

Soak your feet in it for approximately 10/15 minutes and relax. Have some tea, read a book or simply focus on relaxing yourself and set the intention to rest. After this, dry your feet and apply either some essential oil or moisturiser. Frankincense is the king of the essential oils and amongst its benefits it has the one of rejuvenating the skin.

A foot bath has the power to relieve stress, to get you to unwind and slow down. Enjoy.
